Up for sale is this gunong from Mindanao (probably Maguindanao tribe).
The pommel is made of burled narra wood and the rest of the hilt is a mix of plain and filigree silver rings. The guard is made of silver chased in okir designs.
The blade is double edged with silver inlay on both sides. I believe the inlays are in the form of an okir centipede, a powerful talisman.
It comes with a wooden scabbard that is covered with black horn slabs. The metal mounts are silvered copper with some silver filigree and silver okir, common for Mindanao pieces.
As a whole, the total length of the piece is 13.5 inches long (33.75 cm)
I am asking $300 and take PayPal and money order.
You can contact me here or at battara@hotmail.com if you are interested or have any questions.
