I have two types of parang nabur. With their common similarity, nevertheless, there are differences.
The first type of parang nabur blade, usually decorated with engraved ornament, the second type of the blade is never decorated. In the first type, the blade has a slightly different shape, and the tip is made so that it can not be used to thrust them. The blade of the second type of parang is very well adapted for thrusting.
So, I have some questions:
- These are different types of parang nabur and each of them has its own special name?
- Differences of these parangs are due to the fact that they are made in different regions by different ethnic groups? Or was first made one type of parang and later modified to another?http://

There are some more blade types around:

Frankly, I don't think there has been enough research done (or published) to answer any of your questions...

My parang nabur (Beladah Belabang) is somewhat decorated... it has a stabby clipped point, kind o f part way from the two originally posted. dutch influence. :) it's in the ref: above too.
