Have had this in my collection for many decades and always thought of it as Sudanese but the quality of the blade just surpasses anything I have ever encountered which was Sudanese. Would appreciate the thoughts of others . It has what appears to be Arabic script on the blade and wondered if anyone can translate for me.

Hello Thinreadline,
I would agree with the Sudanese/Omdurman attribution, they have well made blades, see here: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=16638&highlight=dagger+sudan
