Been to an well known international auction house today. I took amongst an ivory ball sceptre these two early 20th century pieces. Mangbetu horn and a Yoruba divination tapped. They were admired however they did not want anything to do with them. We have lots of outrage talk here that leeds to nowhere about ivory. The conclusion is if you like it and are not worried about how much you paid for it and have deep pockets then that is fine, you are stuck with it. What happens when you die? Who wants to see the pieces vandalised? If you are budget governed, then today it is a very unwise buy. Luckily I bought these many years ago.
