Got this Palembang keris in pretty bad condition - the finish on the sheath was worn off in many spots, showing patches of wood underneath. The original hilt was trashed. The blade was rusty and sad. The fit to the sheath needed some filler repair to fit perfectly. But here it is -- after 7 nights (+ some weekends) of hard work (and bleeding fingers/peeling skin)!

Enjoy! :)

By the way, this blade is one of those that 'sings' when unsheathed. :) I had to really restrain myself from doing that too often just to hear the nice sustained harmonics.

Tsssszzzzinggggggggg...... :)

BluErf, perhaps you can post a picture showing the sheath mouth, "leng-lengen" or "tampingan" area.

The patch is on the sirah cecak side.

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

1/4 of the joy in collecting is in acquiring the pieces;
1/4 comes from restoring and caring for them;
1/4 is derived from looking at them; and
the last 1/4 comes from sharing it with others who appreciate it. :)

Nice job Kai Wee. It would have been cool to see the before pics though. I have a similar Sumatran piece which needs sheath restoration (or just a brand new gandar) which i hope to get around to eventually.
While i understand your preferences (and the tradition) with not using warangan on some of your peninsula keris i think this is one i would definitely use it on. Nice keris. :)

Oh, and i appreciate a nice "singing" blade as well. :)

I'll warangan the blade if I can get it in a low-contrast shade. :) The typical high-contrast shade does not work very well with most mlumah pamors like this keris'.

But mostly, like some of my fellow collectors say, I like my blades "raw"... Hahahaha :D

Thank you Sepokal. I'm happy as long as the kerises are happy. :)
