This is the first example of its kind that I have seen that had a carved hilt and an inscription carved in the handle. Would love assistance with the translation. My thanks and appreciation in advance.

This is of course a North African Nimcha confirmed by its squared off elbow on the knuckle guard and its decoration with Islamic Script. I have a Moroccan person on the team and will try for a translation.

I have received a translation for the lower half of the inscription. It reads "AlNasr (Victory) Altamakun (Enablement) Alfat'hul Almubin (the clear victory". (Thank you Lofty)

Hopefully the upper half of the inscription is nice and legible in these pictures for a full translation and thoughts to the intent/purpose of the inscription.

Thank you. I appreciate the assistance.

It is thought to be ...the top line...Something like "rasul ...Messenger of God..."

It looks more Zanzibari to me. Check the pommel, and the side ring.

Edit: after checking my records, you could be right.

Salaams Broadaxe ~It is most certainly North African since it displays exotic Islamic script and has the strap rather than the Turtle over the pommel coupled with the right angle bend in the Knuckle Guard.
