Hi all
I will be briefly in Kuala Lumpur in the near future and wondered if there are any good keris displays in any of the museums there. Also are there any shops specialising in keris?
many thanks
David

Hi David;

I live in KL. It has been quite a while since I went to National museum and I seem to recall that they do have a few keris on display but not very much.

But if you want to see really excellent malay keris it's best to visit the collectors here. I know a few top collectors in and around KL and would be happy to arrange for you to meet them .

Central Market in KL also worth to see.... Mostly souvenirs, but at least there are three antique shops, sometimes you will find old sumatran kerises to sell....

Thanks Marcus
I have just returned from Kuala Lumpur. I also found two other public displays of keris in KL, one is at the house of a former prime minister Tun Abdul Razak, (unfortunately the blades are in their sheaths) and there is quite a large display at the Islamic Arts Museum of Malaysia (this also has a wide range of other arms and armour on display). I will post some photos from both collections in the next week or so
cheers
David
