View Full Version : Medieval sword type X with brazil nut shaped pommel

This sword is a typical exemplar of Oakeshott's type X
O.L. 90.5 cm ; blade L. 76.5 cm; blade width at hilt 5 cm
Grip: one hand about 9.5 cm
Blade:
Wide and shallow Fuller running from the cross till the tip ,
Pommel : brazil nut Pommel ( Oakeshott type A)
Cross guard 17 cm .
Period 1050-1150.
This sword is well-balanced and also very light in hand.

Wonderful thing, I hope it's in your collection, Cerjak! I like the way that the corrosion reveals what appears to be a distinct lamellar forging structure in the pommel, crossguard, and possibly the tang.

Thank you for your comment , yes this sword is now in my collection.
The blade is well corroded but still in very good condition only missing the last part of the point so not bad . We can notice that the grip has protected the tang for a long time before to disappear
