My first Kurdish dagger, which I am very pleased with. I think it has an exceptionally good blade. I purchased it from Gavin at SwordsAntiqueWeapons and am happy to recommend him to others. Very easy to do business with.

Hi Harry,
Very nice Kurdish dagger! I love Kurdish daggers.
By the way, I wonder why collectors talk about Kurdish daggers as a whole.
I can see some differences between the so-called Kurdish daggers from Turkey, Syria, Irak and Iran... Plus even in Irak, the so-called Kurdish daggers from Bagdad are very different. There are also some so-called Kurdish daggers that I suspect to be produced in the Balkans...
Some members share these thoughts with me or am I completely crazy??

Hi Kubur,
They seem very similar to me also. I would not be surprised to learn that their design was influenced by whichever came first. I would lump the "Basra dagger" in with that group also.
Cheers!

Hi Harry,
Thanks for the info, that's a nice size. I have a much smaller version but identical in other respects, mine is 9.5ins overall with a 5.3 ins long blade.
Thanks
Miguel
