This halberd recently made its way to my collection together with the one in this thread- http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=20162. It was originally located in a Chateaux near Versailles in rough condition with the haft rotten. The metal was cleaned some and haft replaced.
Does anyone recognize the makers mark? How about the pattern of lines and dots on the blade? Any other known examples?
As always, any comments or thoughts are welcome.
Thanks,
Casey

I found artwork that shows Landsknecht halberds with a pattern of lines on the blade.

i suspect the lines on the blades, like the similar lines on the human figures are contour lines to indicate shading rather than actual lines on the blades or the humans & their clothing. the blades are being shown as not being flat.

Thanks kronckew! The head measures 85cm from tip to bottom of languets. I haven't had a chance to weigh it. The edge is sharpened and it was sharp at one point in time.
The languets are unique indeed. Does anyone know if they are significant to a region or time?
