Hi all,
A last post, just a personal opinion, for me an Ottoman blunderbuss is just a long pistol. Have a look at these Algerian & Moroccan pistols exactly the size of an Ottoman blunderbuss...

Nice piece(s).That's why they are referred to as "knee pistols". Although, fired from the hip, not knee.

Hi Kubur.
Not shure where the term "knee" pistol came from. But that's probably as good a description as any, even if not completely accurate. :D
This style of pistol with the short rifle style butt seemed to be popular only in the Ottoman Empire. With pre-formed combustable cartridges with buck shot, it would be fast to reload - especially from horseback. Would be a great close quarters weapon.

Corrado26: That is a beauty!!!! And in fantastic condition. Super nice!!

Here is a pic of one from my collection. And note the last pic of the guy sitting in the middle hlding one. ;)
Rick.

Pasha Rick, as always with the Ottoman stuff, you have dispensed with the "kneedless" misnomer and put things right, IMHO. You say pistol and that is exactly what it is, a pistol, weird to be sure, but a pistol. I think horseback and/or canoe, according to a few images I have come across. Just sayin'
