Can some experts on this site give me some information about the keris hilt, pictures attached, representing a Praying Figure Seated on 5 Skulls, bought some days ago ?
What does it represent : an ancestor seated on his family' skulls. a God of Death, a warrior challenging his defeated enemies ? What wood is it; by the way not heavy. How old could it be ? Where is it from ?
I will be glad to have your opinion about this piece. Other pictures are available on request. Thanks in advance for your time.

Interesting and very modern interpretive form.

Balinese in its aspect, it may simply be a product of the carver's imagination . :)

Yes Rick, spot on.

In the Bali souvenir shops, skull motifs are pretty popular, you'll find them in all sorts of little souveniry things.

This carving is Balinese, it is very recent, and it is intended as a souvenir of Bali.

It may be in the form of a keris hilt, but it is not one.

Thank you very much indeed, Battara, Rick and Maisley for your comments.
Always useful to get precise information; this is how we learn and collecting is a practical way for knowledge. I was very confused about this piece as I never saw a similar one and I was "smelling" it could be a simple souvenir. Best Wishes, Coyote :)
