Picked up nice Piha Kaetta on the gun show. All I know about it - it came from Sri Lanka. Can some one give me more info on the subject?

Great work and condition on this piece!

This is usually a utility knife.

A VERY NICE EXAMPLE IN VERY GOOD SHAPE. THE INLAYED DESIGN GOING OUT TOWARD THE TIP IS UNUSUAL, THE BLADE IS OF THE THICKER CHOPPER TYPE RATHER THAN THE SLIMMER DAGGER TYPE. USING THE FORUM SEARCH FUNCTION YOU WILL BE ABLE TO LEARN A LOT ABOUT THESE AS THERE ARE SOME GOOD OLD POSTS ON THEM.

I searched the site and read all topics about Piha Kaetta, but it rise more questions, then give answers... Was it a weapon, sacrificial knife, utility knife or just a status symbol? How to date them?

A nice find. I would love to find something similar to this someday, but i'm afraid i would find these a bit addictive like keris. :)
