Anybody authors looking for an illustrator out there?
Just painted these, as an experiment, inspired by Wagners "Cout and thrust Weapons"
I think they work quiet well but dont know if I can be inspired enough to paint my entire collection.
Cheers

Very, very nice!
I think drawings are much better for a general definition of various types of swords than actual pictures: drawings ignore the particulars and concentrate on the general characteristics.
This is why I love old books, with no photography but with great drawings (Egerton, for example).

Andy,
MAGNIFICENT WORK!!!!!!!
Those are beautiful paintings, and I had always thought Wagners were good...I actually think yours are right on par, actually better . As a fellow 'artistic' (I really dont consider myself a true artist) I just sense a little more 'feeling' in yours, while Wagners remain rather two dimensional.
Your work would definitely honor the text of any published work on these weapons!!!

Bravo :) !!

Andy,

Even better than pictures.

If I could paint like you, i certainly would paint my collection. Combining two hobby's with each other. What do you want more???

OK, I can mention some other things either :p , but i love these paintings.

High praise from all, I’m a little overcome :) Especially when compared to Wagner and claimed to be better! Eek I wouldn’t go that far but I can see what you mean. The illustrations in “Cut & Thrust” are a lot more 2 dimensional but for the purpose they do the job excellently. I know everybody uses photos these days but I think it’s the cheap, easy and inadequate solution. They are rarely of an adequate size for good identification/clarity either.
Well not sure exactly were I will go with this but I’ll continue to illustrate my own items and see how that turns out. I must also remember to put some sort of scale on the final versions.
Cheers all for the vote of confidence.
