Yesterday I've bought a rare Capiz bolo, see here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Handmade-Bolo-knife-from-the-Philippines-/201243730635?pt=Collectible_Knives&hash=item2edb0fa2cb#ht_82wt_1220
I am unsure if we can call it a sanduko since it don't has a long nose. It will need a careful restauration of the horn guard, hope that it will be possible. Age? First Republic? Opinions?
Here some of the poor seller pictures.

Nice. It seems like no one showed up for the bidding war. I like these type of hilts, it has a chunky abstract look to them. The cross guard could be wood not horn. Good catch Sajen.

Thank you Kino. :) The paid price was the "buy-it-now" option, the starting price was cheaper. When the cross guard is wood the restauration will be more easy. Any guess about the age?

Interesting piece. Obviously during the American occupation. 1920s - 1940s?

Thank you Jose,

thank you for comment. :) Your age guess is based by the eagle carving on the scabbard, correct? How you would call it? Sanduko? Tenegre?

Detlef

After some research I am sure that this bolo can be called sanduko. In this thread: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=16115&highlight=tenegre are shown similar swords and given some great informations.
