That is the name in Stones glossary. Beautifully pecked granite boulder. The only sad thing is that only after five minutes in my hands, the dry shrunken, tight as a drum hide wrap spit while I was examining the item. Luckily due to the construction this is not detrimental to the functional structure of the weapon. You can see this as a white line in some of the pictures just before the stone. I am very angry with myself, but this sort of thing can happen all too easily when handling old organic material like hide and leather. It is still a super thing and worse could of happened, like leaving it unattended for the dog to chew!!!! That has happened to an acquaintance with Sam Brown belt. The hide/leather material is quite thin almost like gut tissues? Nice in the hand. 68 cm long and missing a lanyard. :o   :)

Looks like a genuine old example, Tim. Congratulations, a pity about the accidental damage to the leather.

Why I was happy to repair with braided sinew. Takes a long time.
