Hello

here's a new piece from my small collection.

Persian Qama
probably mid to late 19th Century
overall lenght 59 cm
blade lenght 44,5 cm
blade wide 5,2 cm
blade thickness 6 mm
weight 655 gramm

What is your opinion about this Qama ?

Greetings

Nice kama Claus,

But I personally think this style is typical of Tiflis (Tbilisi), an not necessarily Persian (though the Persian influence is clearly evident in Georgian arms and their decoration).

Teodor

A NICE OLD EXAMPLE THAT HAS SEEN A LOT OF USE AND WAS NO DOUBT TREASURED THRU HIS LIFE BY ITS OWNER. (THE STORIES IT COULD TELL) :)
I WONDER WHAT TYPE OF HORN IS USED ON THE HANDLES OF THESE IS IT SOME SORT OF COW OR WATER BUFFALOW?

@ Teodor
the origin is hard to tell, the blade is without any markings so we have to guess.
Maybe you are right with Tiflis, because in this thread

In it's glory Days the Qama must be real impressive Dagger.
You can see rest pieces of koftgari on the Rivets and the Tang.
Shame the scabbard is lost.
