Here for viewing is a campilon with a whalebone pommel. The front of the two-piece crossguard is also whalebone, while the rear part appears to be carabao horn. Campilon has a 30 inch laminated blade. Heavy iron guard on both sides of crosspiece. This is the same camp pictured on page 51 of Bob Cato's book "MORO SWORDS". At the time the picture was taken for the book, Bob had not yet restored the horsehair on the pommel. The sword itself is a little heavier than some campilons that iv'e handled......Dave

Dave, to me this is the centerpiece of your display. Every time I walk up to your table, my eyes gets drawn up to this Kamp. The only 2 tone cross guard I've ever seen.

Thanks guys. I never did ask Bob how he got a chance to find a camp of this quality. Maybe it was on one of his many trips to the Philippines when he was gathering research for the book. We have owned it now for about ten years, along with three or four other pieces in the book. We used to see Bob every year at the Pasadena Knife show, as he lives right near there, but we never see him there anymore and his phone number seems to have been changed. Bill Marsh asked me several years ago if he thought Bob would give him permission to do a reprint of the book. I gave him Bob's phone number but I guess nothing has ever come of it...........Dave.
