Maybe i am to crazy about my keris hobby.....and imagening things.
This weekend brought this from a flee-market to my home.
The statue is about 40 cm high, made of very heavy wood. I think not very old, but can have some age. The brown paint from the body is almost gone.
I gave this fellow the task to hold one of my kerises.....but,
Although it looks like a keris bearer, maybe he had another occupation. The face seems more Chinese to me, a fisherman or.....
any idea ???

I think it might well be a keris holder .
The Chinaman form has been seen before .

I agree with Rick.
The Chinaman version of kerisholder doesn't seem to be unusual on Bali (based on museum collections and keris publications).

Its definatelly the right man for the job, chances are it really is a keris holder. Maybe not a pusaka or the traditional garuda or gayang figure but it does not lack exotism & cool. Like the ones before me I believe this might be a modern Balinese carving. I am pretty sure you shouldnt look for atributing superpowers or desperatelly find what "school" does it belong to, just enjoy it as it is... A saying goes "Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder", oops I meant "beholder"... :)

thanks for the received information. It gives me a task to search on for related ones, like photo's etc.
I did't expect it eighter to be a very special one with 'superpowers"
i just like it the way it is
