Just arrived in the post from an auction house where it was labelled as Indonesian.

Packing to go away for work so please forgive the hasty, uncleaned photos.

Length 22 ins.
Wooden Hilt 5 ins
Blade 17 ins.

A heavy, very well balanced blade which is chisel ground.
Evidence of cross-hatching which may suggest it was made from an old file, but it was very large file if that is the case.

The hilt, to me shouts NAGA but if so, I have not seen this form before.

All sugestions welcome.

Regards
Roy

ive seen course 16 inch rasps that could provide the original blade material, whether they were for horse hoof or woodwork, I am not sure..

It doesn't strike me as Naga, but waisted hilts appear from Bhutan across northeastern India to Burma. It could be Adi, for instance, but I suppose it could also be a crude golok from Indonesia.
