Now, that's what I call stab'alicious! I really have a thing for the straight-pointed gunongs. What is the hilt made of? Buffalo horn AKA - as Wouter just taught me - carabao? :) I love the silverwork - particularly the serpentine band - it looks very classy!

have watched this one as well and think about to bid but since I have one with nearly the same blade (will post pictures at weekend) and I have seen at the same time a other one (see my following thread) I passed. So I did well because i don't want to come in a bidding fight with you! :D

Nice grouping Detlef :). Thank to all for your comments. There is some type of writing on the throat of he scabbard. Will let you know what is says once it arrives.

i have a very similar one to the far left here, just smaller yet.
and of course the exact one on it's right.

I was watching this piece as well. A far price for a great piece!

I would guess 1930s to the 1940s or possibly even later. Maranao if I read the okir design on the blade right.
