Hi everyone,

I just won an auction at a very cheap price.
And now i got this information:

I am very sorry to inform you that due to very complicated paperworf to send/ship this antique piece considered a weapon in NH, I will not be able to fullfill this auction

Is it true that it is so complicate to send an old Pike Head from araound 1800 from 03777 Orford, New Hampshire, US to Berlin, Germany ?

Of course not! But have had similar problems many times before with sellers from the States. :(
It is good when you have a friend in the States who is willing to help you.

Actually it is a bit of a problem since the Germany postal system is a private system, not state run like the US post. Hence the US postal system makes you fill out tons of forms, get special permissions, etc. before they will send packages to Germany. I ran into this problem a couple years ago.

Hello Jinker, If you have the item sent to me I will ship it to you as long as you pay the shipping cost. PM me for my address if interested.

I guess it depends on your definitions of 'complicated' and 'not being able'.. :D

In my experience, people often expect the unknown to be difficult and unless they ever try it out for themselves, this belief will stick with them for life. That is why you sometimes see sales with terms like 'US buyers only' or 'Only for sale in the EU'.
Additionally, some people have had negative experiences with customs etc. and so prefer to keep the sale of weapons within their own zone.

Although one could certainly suspect sinister motives, perhaps your seller is simply unfamiliar with intl. shipping and forgot to state it in his terms?

The best way to find out would probably be to talk the guy...?

Hope you work it out, - Thor

Another problem seems to be: USP seems to state that it is not allowed to send weapons to Germany what is generally correct but with the exception of ethnograhic/antique edged weapons and some post officers don't know about this and tell stupid things.
I have had many times problems with freshwater sellers from the States by this. And I agree, it helps when you contact sellers and discuss this with them.

Hi,

so, i was not lucky with that.
The seller has shut his account and dont answer.

This is what i won for only 10,- € from Pierre, Orford, New Hampshire and what i will never receive anymore.

It should be an excaveted english pike head from araound 1800.
