The Boumali people are located west of the Ubangi river in Gabon. This are two examples of their typical throwing knives. The smaller on was made for left handed people what is very rare and difficult to find.

Wow, they look very cool - thanks for sharing them! :)
Interesting with the left/right thing. Are there any practical differences between right-handed and left-handed in their use (throwing technique?), or is it purely a cosmetical thing? I can see that only one side of the knives are decorated. but maybe they travel like a boomerang in the way that the direction of trajectory is decided by the throwing hand? I know next to nothing about African knives, so I hope you'll forgive my many questions. :)
Where lefties always smaller than righties?
Best wishes for your sunday, - Thor

from books, throwing knives that are engraved on one side to fly. Some are engraved on both side, but served to impress the enemy or for ceremonies

Hi JW
Very fine and rare throwing knives - thanks for posting.
Here are my two from the Ingessana (Sudan), for interest and comparison.
Regards. :)
