Hi Folks. I just picked up this piece at a fleamarket and was wondering if anyone here could help me in identifying it's origin. It is hardwood and has nice patina and wear. Thanks. Mike

DIFFICULT TO TELL MUCH FROM PHOTOS BUT I WILL GIVE IT A SHOT. LIKELY INDONESIAN OR MALAYSIAN IN ORIGIN. I THINK IT IS A DECORATIVE PIECE OF SOMETHING NOT A WAR OR CEREMONIAL CLUB. I CAN'T SEE THE HANDLE WELL BUT IT LOOKS LIKE IT WOULD HAVE FIT IN A SOCKET, YOU CAN JUDGE BETTER HAVING IT IN HAND. A INTERESTING ITEM AND IT DOES APPEAR TO HAVE PATINA AND AGE. DOSEN'T LOOK LIKE A ITEM MADE FOR TOURISTS.

Thanks Vandoo. I'll try looking in that direction. I've also been trying to figure out what kind of an animal that it's supposed to be. Dragon, pterodactyl :), wild boar, crocodile, wolf?

Oddly enough, I've seen real Fakir's crutches here in India that have the same size, shape and proportions. The fakirs, or even monks, use them to rest their arm when seated. I can't comment on the animal features though.
