Saint Sebastian's martyrdom a la Portuguese

A first half XVI century painting by Gregório Lopes.
Provenant from the Templar charola of the Convent of Tomar, presently at the Nationl Museum of Antique Arts in Lisbon.
This is a detail of the painting, how it comes in the book "Eight centuries of hunting in Portugal", to emphasize the long bow, the sword and the crossbow.

Thank you! What wonderful weapons the Portuguese had ...

The crossbow is clearly influenced by the mid-15th c. Italo-Spanish style, with a very delicate long tiller and and small indented steel bow. Also the quite developed form of the sword hilt is remarkable.

I attach scans of a ca. 1450 Italian painting depicting similar bows and crossbows.
