Hullo everybody,
Is there a simple way to remove a bone handle from a keris when it is filled and fixed to the tang with caulking compound/plaster (i.e. removal w/o damaging the pierced carving)? The last time I did it, it was so laborious:(.

Best,
There 2 options:
a) soak the hilt intermittently in lukewarm water till the hilt loosen,
b) heat the blade from a distance till the hilt is loosen (most effective way that I've tried)
Another option which is quite risky, place the blade in between a thick book, put pressure on the book while trying to move the hilt bit by bit.
Happy trying.

khalifah muda,
Thanks for your help.
Now all I have to do is clean the white stuff off the nooks and crannies.
A pity that there are some minor chips off the scroll-work. I guess somebody has tried to remove it before.
Best,
