Not exactly new news...they have been fighting for years...but saw this on the BBC last night:

Actually, it is news. The KIO/KIA has maintained a ceasefire with the Burmese military since the mid 1990s, and in recent years has not responded to some serious attempts by the Burmese Army to provoke conflict. I for one am quite concerned. While I thought the ceasefire was a mistake, I am afraid a resumption of fighting will be yet another disaster for Kachin civilians.

Yes, thanks for the clarification on the real alarm of the situation...I didn't quite go into that detail...but you are right...the situation is very serious...while the Kachin are know for being fierce fights, the Burmese Army is better equipped and have more numbers and overrun the Kachin...fighting would be intense and as you say many civilians would be at risk...

Just a further step to ethnic cleanse Burma of all but the Burmese, which as we all know has been going on for some years. :mad:
