Made in Syria. Completely new but still my sincere respect to the masters who manufactured this beautiful piece (or pieces as i see several of them in Istanbul recently). 'Almost' perfect except its very thick and heavy but not so sharp edged blade which would have better use in breaking bones than slashing :D ;) .

I saw Damascus goldwork, and quality of this one surprised me!!! No problem Alex :) . I was waiting for the auction to end impatiently to post it, that's why i bit you. i dont know how much they charge it in Syria. I know how much in Istanbul but if that rule is still active, I think it is forbidden to talk price in the forum. ;)

Are blades of this quality being made nowadays in istanbul as well?

I wasn't aware that blademaking of this calibre was still being produced in the area (but admittedly I'm no expert on the regions or its arms).

Another den of thieves is open for business? This stuff is not sold as "modern replicas", they are selling it as the "real deal". Forgery, pure and simple.

Same thing is happening in China - they are getting better at forging replica WWII Japanese swords. Becoming harder and harder to distinguish between the fakes and the real thing.
