Hi Semar,

Can we have a full frontal shot of the keris in it sheath please?

Can you provide more information like where this keris was acquired etc? Whether you know any parts had been swapped, etc. Thanks!

Hi Semar,
Happy holidays.. looking at the ganja, I kinda' feel awkward.. the metal type, finishes, the joint between the ganja and bilah/wilah/blade.. the fretworks style at the greneng (kerawang).. imho, show signs of a possible replacement..

The sheath looks like it has been treated with black pigment. Traditionally, Bugis keris do not have such metal sleeves, so the sheath's "original"-ness is suspect. Anyway, the hilt is nice, and is difficult to come by. The ganja is indeed odd, hence, likely a replacement.

the sleeves is with silver and the middel part is copper and the lower part is again silver

I'm uncomfortable with the gonjo also .
It is not of the same pamor material as the blade IMO .
Looks like a fair amount of 'goo' between the two pieces .

Thanks for the extra info, but still not traditional Bugis. Anyway, all that looks silver may not always be silver... :p

The other thing of course is the blade is not a Bugis blade anyway. Could be Sumatran in origin, but not a Bugis-style blade.

The hilt is Sulawesi style, and as I had mentioned before, is quite nice.
