I found this Klewang blade together with some indonesian stuff (keris' + golok scabbard)
I don't know the blade style, but near the ricasso it has a very typical stamp.
Nor the blade nor the markings ring a bell to me.
Any help / suggestions ?

Dha ? Could be, you get easily tricked when there is no handle.
And is it normal for Dha's to have markings ?

The fact is that you're from Netherland and at one time for a few hundred years Indonesia was under Netherland.
I found this Klewang blade together with some indonesian stuff (keris' + golok scabbard)
Asomotif, how did you find those stuff? Is there any other item found among those stuff that might be originated from some other place other than Indonesia? Is that bundled together stuff belong to your ancestor that was in Indonesia during the colonial time?
Your answers to those above questions might give some light to our forum members to decide the origin and the type of that blade.
One thing I noticed that the marking on the blade looks like a christian cross symbol.

I'd say dha too. 17" (45 cm) is well within the size range.

Dea Mohd,
Yes, i am aware of our past.
So basically a lot of indonesian sword types are more or less known to me.
I bought it via a local website without any reference to previous owners/history.
I must say that when you bump into small "collections" from our colonial past, it is quite common to find Moroccan jambiya knifes and other african weapons.
Simply becasue often ships sailed around africa or later via Suez, but then stopped in Casablanca for various reasons.
Everything collected on its way than is labelled by the family as " Indonesian" . Or "Indie" as we called it before 1948.
All together I see a lot of Dha voters. :)
Interesting.

The marking looks more like a double dorje to me than a Christian cross, which would put it more firmly in "Dha Land". :)

I agree that this is a dha blade. The tip style is one of them Hua's. :p
In looking at it closely, I also tend to think it is a blade with respectable age.

Great info / That is really great on this forum.
Lot of knowledge and a lot of active members.
I will probably move the blade to swap because I am not collecting Dha's and considering the age and the rare marking there will be much better collections for it to fit in :)
Thanks,
Willem

I agree with others this one looks like a Dha blade...and the cross looks more like a double dorgie found in Tibetan Buddhism....I've never seen that makers mark before...very interesting.
