If anyone out there could tell me where you can find out how to make swords I would really appreciate it. I have checked the internet and I have checked Amazon.com for books but I haven't had any luck. Any help with finding books, internet sites, magazine articles, etc: would really help. Thanks in advance. IP: Logged |

Wow,this must be the 100th time I have heard someone come onto this forum and ask that question.Anyway, making swords is a long complicated process that can be done in a myriad of ways.My best advice to you is to go look for books about knifemaking,I have one that is extremely good and talks about forging{the other technique is stock removal and there are tons of ways to do both} the book is called 'The Complete Bladesmith' by Jim Hrisoulas. I dont know if you are just researching this subject or plan to get into it but either way this book should help you out. IP: Logged |

The book Justin mentions is by far the one I see most often recommended. As for internet sites, NetSword has a message board with a forum dedicated to making weapons, and Sword_Forum_International has a forum devoted to smiths. Technically, only smiths are supposed to post there, but anyone can lurk. Blademaking is also widely discussed on the other forums there, particulary the General Forum. IP: Logged |
