This robust single edge blade is convex along the edge and slightly convex along the back and measures 13¼ inches (34 cm) in length. One side features an eccentric rib where the blade is at its thickest, being 0.32 inch (0.8 cm), while the opposite face appears to be flat but is slightly convex. Two groups of four transverse lines decorate the forte and the side with the raised rib. The forged, layered blade has a dark patina with scattered darker patches of minor corrosion. Longitudinal forging flaw cracks are evident on both faces and involve the tip and there is some denting along the spine at the forte. The dark caribou (water buffalo) horn hilt features a seven sided brass ferrule and pommel cap. Overall length is 19½ inches (49.5 cm) with a weight of 19.4 ounces (553 grams). Lew dated this example as being circa 1900-1910.
